I have faced this dilemma - many camp-sites in this country offer no accommodation for hammock campers, I guess it just doesn't have enough popularity for most places to think about catering to us hangers.
So I found this thread: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...-Hammock-Stand
Which lead me to this site: http://www.handyhammock.co.uk/page/hammock-stand
From which I ordered this stand:
I purchased an underquilt from hammock gear:
And I figured out that my Redverz Expedition II tent with the bedroom part unclipped and removed could cover the entire hammock & stand:
So I went to a motorcycle rally (the Handy Hammock Stand is portable enough to take motorcycle camping):
I had a couple of comfortable nights sleep in there while nice & warm despite frost on the tent on the first night.
The only problem is that the Redverz tent is rather large and heavy, so I've ordered a couple of 5 foot adjustable tarp poles from REI so I can take a hammock, hammock stand, tarp & tarp poles. I currently have a Hennesy Hex tarp but I'm planning on buying a WB Superfly tarp.
Many camp-sites here have some trees, just not necessarily 2 trees a convenient distance apart - so I'll be able to utilize one tree for one end of my hammock and tarp while using one half of the Handy Hammock Stand and one tarp pole to hold the other end. With no trees available my system will still work fine though.
My idea is to be able to set up camp in a normal tent site whenever there are no trees I can use, this will be just like the tent campers except that I wont be sleeping on the ground and waking up sore and achy.
Some of the other ideas would work fine for car camping, but my 4 wheels look like this:
