    Underquilt as a sleeping bag?

I've been looking for a new under quilt, but at the same time, I need another approx. 15 degree sleeping bag for when when my wife and I go tent camping together. I dont want to spend twice as much money if i dont need to. Does anyone have any experience with using an under quilt as a sleeping bag/quilt for tent camping? Specifically I have been looking at the incubator 20 with 2 Oz of overstuff.
Thanks for any and all advice.

I've used one with good results with my kid, but with me laying flat I need it to be opened up and figure out how to rig it so that it would still function as a sleeping bag. Some simple sewing would fix it right up I've just not tried yet. Looking forward to seeing this thread. People here have made some cool mods.

I would look for some of the ones that can either be a underquilt or a top quilt, because it sounds like that is what you really want. Some of the Jacks R Better quilts are sold that way. The issue is you need a little extra length to make a foot box, so you need a longer underquilt.

adding a simple separating zipper could help to make it a sleeping bag if you really need to close up, although I agree that one of the models that can be both an UQ and a TQ would be best way to go around the issue of having to spend a lot of money

Thanks for the thoughts, I'm going to hold tight for a used deal when I have some money I think.
