PLEASE READ!

So the this years planning is officially underway! The FBH (Frozen butt Hang) will take place January 8th thru January 10th. Anybody who wants to show up a day or two early to help get set up is always welcome and appreciated. The location has yet to be determined. Due to firewood issues the previous years location must be passed over. I will be looking over the next month or two for a new location but I am also up for ideas. Just keep the locations limited to the North Shore and surrounding area. If I could get help from someone on setting up a Google spread sheet like we had in previous years that would be most helpful as I am unaware on how to do that

I am super excited for this years hang and I hope we can make it the biggest one yet!!

Note: This event may not be for everyone as it could possibly be quite COLD! Understand that though I don't want people discouraged from coming out, personal responsibility is important. In other words Unless you have body hair like an Alaskan Husky, bring proper insulation and clothing. We've had temps in the area at this time of year as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit! While others are are usually helpful for the SLIGHTLY under prepared, we don't want anyone to putting themselves in a harmful situation. Thanks again!

I'll be in from the Friday to the Sunday. May stay over the Sunday night as well if anyone else is interested. I have to limit my days off due a trip in February. Looking forward to the hang.

When y'all are done freezing your...hammocks off, come South the following weekend to warm up a bit at the Annual Florida Hang. It's now called HHangCon 1 for Hammock Hanging Convention 1.

Can't wait for y'alls trip report. Love them every year. Stay safe and hammock responsibly.

I thought I was in for sure but as it turns out my wife scheduled her birthday right smack in the middle of this trip on the 9th. She says it's on the same date every year but I swear she changed it just to prevent me from taking part. Very disappointing!!

Hillbilly, if you're scouting out potential new locations I'll dredge up the suggestion I had in the past of maybe looking at somewhere near the shore of Greenwood Lake, in the western half of the forest - when I looked before the southeast shore near the creek inlet seemed interesting on paper, but I haven't been in person. If there's a suitable spot to be found there, pros would be a much larger parking lot (which has been a bit of an issue), easy access to water, and the possibility of ice fishing. The tricky part is you'd probably want to do scouting by boat this time of year, rather than bushwhacking around the perimeter of the lake. Check the map carefully for which parts are public land as well.
