    Talking HyperD XL 12' Hammock

Just finished my 12' HyperD XL hammock. This thing is huge! The HyperD fabric feels fantastic. This is my second hammock that I have built. The first was using JoAnn's Sport Nylon (1.9 oz~). This hammock feels like it has a lot more give in it, which I expected at 1.6 oz and with how large it is.

I am using Knotty's gathering instructions and attaching it with Dutch Cinch Buckles and a continuous loop to the hammock. A Whoopie ASR finishes it off. I still need to test it some more, but my first time laying in it today was really nice. I was able to get a nice flat lay out of it. I still need to take it down and weigh it.

Like the accent stitching...but... in my semi-professional lollygagging opinion, for sure more testing is required.
Congrats and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

So true. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I just ordered materials to build an under quilt. No rest for the DIY'er!

LOL! Well I won't say that won't happen. But I'm trying to get it right the first time. I got the same fabric and length you did but went with the green. Hammocks for my kids will be next

Nice! I finished my hyperD XL a couple months ago but haven't gotten out of it long enough to take pics :P

The material is very soft to the hand and does give a little bit of stretch, but not too much. I started with 12' but ended up a little shorter - probably ~11' using the same methods. In my stupidity, I managed to nick the fabric a few inches from the edge (in the middle of the hammock no less) but the hammock has held up well with no signs of ripping after plenty of naps and lots of tossing and turning.

It's my first DIY hammock and I'm keeping my eye out for some UQ materials to finish up a complete DIY set. Those costco down throws everyone's been talking about have got my attention.

I don't think I can go back to narrower hammocks now - I can lie back perpendicular and fit inside the entire hammock with my legs crossed!
