Yeah, grosgrain is a little stiff for a full closure cinch. It works ok on the ends of my Uq because I don't have to go for full closure.

If I was to do it again I would use something lighter like twill tape or just fold a hem and channel the ends without an edge binder.

On another note, I used 7/8" grosgrain and it is a little tight getting the cord to feed and run smoothly. A wider tape would be much better.

After a coupla prototypes created from an old sheet, duct tape, safety pins and binder clips, I'm going to start sewing tomorrow. Sounds like I'll be doing something similar to Mtngeronimo, cutting a single quilt and attaching the smaller portion on the larger portion. I cutting a curved pattern, so won't be leaving it rectangular and I'm going to give velcro a shot along the long edges, with a channel and draw cord on the ends. Thanks for the tip re: not using grosgrain for the end channels, I have 1" and it sounds like I'll wish I used something else.

BTW the attachments in your post won't open and threw me an error, do others have that issue as well? Or is it just me?

I tried reloading the attachments this morning. I'm not sure what is up. I submitted an inquiry to Admin. I'll try editing the nonfunctioning attachments.

I'll be interested to see your finished product.

Agreed, nice job. I've been holding off on modding mine, but reading your build notes gave me an idea I'm happy with. Cheers
Crayons - they might look different, but they all taste the same

I keep looking in my store in Virginia with no luck. Are others finding it pretty universally available in your area?
