Video: Rigging a Tarp Ridgeline With LoopAliens

I switched my ridgeline setup to a pair of fake loop aliens from eBay (one English pound for three)

Impressed with the speed, options and cheapness

Screwed up the filming of my LoopAlien hammock suspension (using stainless steel LoopAliens).
    Will try again tomorrow.

cool vid. I bought the copied ones a while ago (the postage for the originals with import charges was more than the loopaliens themselves) pretty good but heavier and larger than expected, though i still use them and like them

All of these Chi-clone LoopAliens are larger, and heavier than the originals, but they do-the-do.

still...$.75 a piece shipped is not a bad price... http://www.amazon.com/DDY-Survival-K...+Multi-purpose

3.4g for the aluminium ones, failed at 148kg (326lb), so plenty strong for ridgelines.
    And 42p a piece ($US 0.65).

The stainless steel ones I use for my hammock suspension are 12.5g, that'll be heavier than the genuine titanium ones, but stronger (as long as the Chinese use half decent steel).
On my quick and dirty test rig I maxed out at 450kg (992lb), should be fine for hammock suspension.
When I am back at work, I will get the Tirfor winch out, and test it to destruction.
At 48p a time ($US 0.75) I can afford to sacrifice a few! (and video it too)

Thx for the vid... I just got some of the ChiClone ones and your rigging is FAR better than what they show.

Can you attach the loop alien directly to the tarp to keep tension?

One nice benefit of these is the shape virtually eliminates the concern of tarp/hammock wear due to abrasion like many other suspension do dads out there. The surface and edges are nice and smooth.
