    Tyvek snake skins. Worth making?

I have a partial roll of 9' house wrap tyvek and the tape. Just curious if it would worth making a set of snakeskins for my tarp. Only thing I would be out of is the time to do it since I already have everything.

Don't know if anyone has tried it before but can't see why not?, let us know how they work.

Spend a while smooshing and crumpling the Tyvek first to get to flexy and softened... that way you don't stress out or loosen the tape as badly.
I'd also think about putting a couple of stitches at each end of the tape, or at least fold it back over inside a ways.

And pictures... or it didn't happen

If you are just tossing it in your car after car camping - by all means. You could use anything really. Compressible snake skins are made of ripstop, cuben, or bug mesh, etc.... Tyvek will be a stiff, unwieldy mess...no matter how soft it might get. Just comes down to your priorities. It would work, just won't be very compact. I'd suggest tyvek tape on top of your seams for durability. Have fun - the DIY bug is tough to shake.

DIYing is great. I like to use Tyvek for making prototypes before making the final product out of cuben. Easy to work with, similar no stretch properties, and cheaper cost when making changes. But for this particular application , if it were me, I would rather sell off some of the Tyvek to those in need, and use that $ to buy some already made skins.
Please don't let me discourage you from making them yourself, and if you do, we want pictures.
