    Hammock stand, new camp saw!

Buddy of mine gave me some new camping gear for my birthday including a nice new saw. What happens when you have a wooded yard infested with buckthorn, a new saw and a hammock obsession?

You build a hammock stand of course!

Good job, why waste a resource. Bringing that with you next weekend?? Nevermind, there plenty of buckthorn in the area. Could be an afternoon project?

Makes for pretty cool spoons as well, if the trees are big enough.

Well I would consider bringing it next weekend but first, the thing weighs a ton and second the ridge pole is like 14' long. I could cut it down but kind of like it this way for now.

Very nice! Love the primitive/old school bark on look. I'll have make myself one of those stands. How much flex/bounce is there when getting in and out of your hammock? (Buckthorns have more flex than many other woods.) Would you say those poles are thicker than they need to be or thinner than you'd like?

Here's hoping you bring that saw to the Group Hang this weekend. Heard good reviews about it, be nice to see how it stacks up to an Outdoor Edge Griz or a bow saw.
    (insert pithy quote here)

Thanks.....there's really no bounce at all. The ridge pole flexes a little visually but nothing that can be felt really. The poles are probably all a little thicker than they need to be. My buddy wants to build one and we are going to use slightly thinner trees. Tell you one thing, it's heavy!

The saw is really awesome! Rips right through!
