Question WB Ridgerunner and pad recommendations

    Hello All,
I recently received a War Bonnet Ridgerunner Hammock to add to my Hennesey Expedition. I love by Hennssey but figured a bridge Hammock may be more comfortable with my neck and back issues I was not wrong. I will be ordering a yeti UQ eventually but plan on first getting a TQ from Hammockgear first. I would like to know from other members who have or have used RRs what sleeping pads have worked for them. I have both a Thermarest self-inflating pad as well as a Exped Synmat 7 LW. Both are 26" wide so I don't think that will be a problem. I look forward to hearing from folks.

I used a Zlite SOL pad before I got my Lynx underquilt and it worked nicely in my WBRR.

This topic has been discussed a bunch but it's kind of all over the place. If the pad works well on the ground/snow, it will probably be fine in the hammock.

I use this one in my RR, and it works okay.

I supplement with a quilt in deep winter. The R rating is 4.2... not bad, not great. It was free, so I'm not ever going to complain. I also use it when my son wants to sleep in a tent. Shh... don't tell anyone I just said that.

I like using an inflatable pad in my Ridgerunner, because (unlike the Lynx underquilt or Gossamer Gear's thinlight foam pad) it makes the RR feel a bit wider and lifts me up slightly for an even better view. Without the pad, my feet end up on top of each other; with a pad, this happens much less. Note that the Yeti UQ is designed for WB's gathered end hammocks; the Lynx UQ fits their RR perfectly.

I compared a Sea to Summit with an ExPed Synmat pad in the Ridgerunner in this review: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...Hyperlite-pads

OTOH, since you already have a Thermarest and an ExPed pad, either will be fine. You might decide which one to pack depending on the weather and your hiking distance, etc.

RE: Top quilts -- I have Hammock Gear's Burrow TQ as well, and like it. But laying both this TQ and my Lynx UQ out on the floor, I would say that the Lynx appears to have more loft. Both are "standard" 20 degree models, with no extra fill, and about the same age. If I were ordering a Burrow again, I'd add some extra down to make it more comparable.

    Hope this helps...

I have used both the Exped Synmat 7 LW and the Exped Synmat UL 7 LW when I had my ridgerunner. Both worked great.
