340 or so here, and on my TBird, I have adjustable Whoopies, and love them for the flexibility they offer.

As the first commercial sorce for Whoopies we have tested to over 600 pounds. At 400 and up we recemend going up to 1\8th inch slings but being under 300 your still in what we consider light weight range.

I agree with other posters. Tried whoopies and now just use dutch ti cinch buckles. Less fiddle and it works better when you have closer trees. Whoopies will support my weight, but I just like the straps better. I do still keep a set of whoopies in my kit though. To each his own. I'm 6ft 280lbs. I too am waiting on the supreme goodness from papa smurf this weekend (#2303). It's like xmas in september. Anticipation is killing me. Plus my ugq underquilt is under construction
I don't like toggles so I use Dutch's Whoopie hooks with 8" continuous loops on the end of the hammock. I'm a relative newbie but it works well for me.

I am at 285# and have been using whoopies for years in both 7/64 and now 1/8. They are larksheaded on to a single descender ring which in turn is larksheaded onto an 8" continuous loop on the ends of my hammocks. I either use a marlin spike hitch to my tree straps or just use a carabiner. I now have a Hammeck stand and when I use the stand I switch to a continuous loop in place of the whoopies that I made to fit the hammock and stand. I still use whoopies when not on the stand. The first time I used whoopee slings (homemade) I was a little concerned until I fell asleep. I haven't worried about them since. I have never tried straps and buckles so I guess I don't know what I am missing.
My set up looks like this.
Tree Strap (loop on both ends) around tree (how ever many times work based on tree size) and then through loop. Whoopie locked brummel into loop and then whole whoopie through itself. Whoopie hook clipped into 8" loop that is larksheaded onto the end of the hammock.
I can take pictures this evening if that doesn't make sense.
