FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

I'll try this out! I just got into backbacking/hammock camping but so far, I was out in December and January already and can't wait to hit the trail again.

#41 is done after a weekend in the Huron Forest north of Glennie, Michigan. Good food and friendship in the woods. Really digging the hot tent and enjoying winter camping a whole lot more. Also got to play with the toboggan on the downhill trails. Food in bowls is my $5 version of "bangers and mash": instant potatoes, a pack of beef gravy and Bob Evans precooked sausage. Tasted amazing and very simple to cook.

#41 in the books. A fun night out with very clear sky. Only used the tarp to block some light wind. Low temp was 12°F

In the morning the fog rolled in to cover the mountain a little with the sun trying to break through.

Month 16, in the backyard, 1/19/19. Stopped snowing around 1 am and then the 30+ MPH winds started driving freezing rain against the tarp and under it. The Spindrift over the Ridgerunner did a good job of keeping the weather out and it was too toasty with the 0° Hammock Gear quilts. Had to shed clothing to stay comfortable. Still a good night out though a bit hard to sleep with the constant battering. Going to bite the bullet and finally buy the Winter Dream 13 tarp.

It's a great way to test your rig in all different situations! And for me, a solid incentive to keep getting out!.
