    12 nights a year

I have been kicking around a fun challenge for my camping buddy's and I and thought it would be interesting to throw out to this community also.

The idea is simple, spend the night outside at least once a month. You pick the day, the location, and the gear. Take a pic and share your night out. No matter where you live one night a month for a year is guaranteed to put you and your gear through a variety of conditions. It doesn't matter if you pick the nicest day of the month to string your hammock in the back yard, the state park, or a remote wilderness area as long as you sleep a night a month for a year. This isn't intended to be a super hardcore test or anything, just a fun way to encourage everyone to get out year round and figure out what works.

What do you think? If there is some interest I will even make up a patch or something for those that complete the challenge.

I like the idea but I must not be as tough as Andy cause I don't think I can make myself do it from June through September, I hate it but I cant hack the nights when the lows are still near 90 and the humidity is near 100. i'll give it a shot though.

Awesome! I can't wait to see the reports come in. It will be fun no matter how it shake out, and we will all learn somthing about our limits.
It's not survival gear, it's just a bunch of work

I also like the idea but during the winter it is, for a newbie like myself, not going to happen. I just don't have the equipment for it. But still, I am all for the idea during the months I CAN do it. I'm in!

Not even a challenge when I am already, full time as I can be, back yard hanging 12 months of the year for the past 15 months

So get out there people, take the challenge and turn that one day into two and three and.........Enjoy the hang, the outdoors, and the funny look the sheeple give you when you tell them you sleep outside...hahahahhaha
Life is too Short to not feed the addiction....Hang on and explore the World

Let's see if I can get the husband over his fear of winter camping.

Love it, I'm in. I try to go hiking at least once a month and ideally backpacking once a month as well. Winter will be interesting...

Here's a couple pics from this past weekend. Hanging next to the river, which was low, so I ate dinner there and watched the sunset

which raises another question, do pics have to be imported from photo bucket or some other service or can they come from my pictures folder? some forums do one some the other and some both. I have used photo bucket and resizeit but it has been so long I will have to start over.
