This thread is awesome. Not only did you inspire me to do something I might not have done, but on the nights I'm not out there I can read what others have been doing.
I have informed my wife of my intent and after a little banter she realized the value of this concept.
I have purchased a HG 20 degree quilt set off the forums and a winter sock off of Dutch.
My game face is on and I hope to hit you with updates soon!
I would like to addthat after 12 nights a year and a patch, the natural progression to me would be a 52 patch.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I also think an "Original 13" for the first thirteen to complete the challenge with proof would be awesome. Any of these patches at group hangs would probably be respected.
The 52 would be like our version of a Ranger Tab.

there's a patch?
Thanks Clockw3rk, that is what this challenge is all about! I love the idea of keeping it going. I have been working on designing the patch and you have a great suggestion. Perhaps a main patch for the first 12 nights and a chevron under it for each additional 6 or 12 months.
It's not survival gear, it's just a bunch of work
Awesome.. I'll have to start taking pictures then. since I camp at least 39 nights a year with my Scout Troop.. all of which in the hammock.
Plus the camping with the family etc.

I don't have pics, but will start taking them. I have every month from May until now, though I need to double check the date that it was actually in the month of Sept, could have been late Aug or early October. 4 nights in Nov, with probably 1 more. December will be a few nights testing cold weather gear in my back yard, Jan has a two night trip scheduled. I should be to 20-25 nights by the time May rolls back around.
4 for 4, November Backyard Hang testing 20 degree quilts at 33 degrees and Dutchware Winter Sock. Slept well and warm until 3AM, answered call of nature and couldn't recover my warmth on my lower back and butt. I will try again Friday night. I hope that it stays colder overnight!
