#1 Does it count if you just sleep in your own backyard?

Foothills of the Canadian Rockies, my Accutemp said the low was 33* F or 0.5* C overnight. Deployed my Superfly, single layer Ridgerunner, Spindrift, 1/8" CCF pad, 10* Western Mountaineering Versalite sleeping bag, 20* Lynx full length underquilt. This time, unlike my trial run in December, I slept in some down booties I "borrowed" from my spouse. Solved the cold feet problem. Same base layers of SmartWool socks, long underwear, a merino wool buff, down hat.

I also left the door (single) of the Spindrift open more, and had ZERO problems with condensation.

A decent night's sleep, overall. 0500 trip to the washroom to pee, then back to sleep.

The amount of snowfall was unexpected. Such a peaceful sound, the flakes hitting the tarp while I'm lying snug in my small, dry, warm, camping cocoon.

I'm trying for 12 nights this year, part of my personal goals for 2020.

I 100% think that it counts. You slept outside in the hammock! I am participating in this goal as well and my Jan camp out was in my backyard as well.

Agree with ParaJosh. There are other threads for trip reports and awesome hangs. I figure the intent of this one is to get us outside and test our gear in as many different types of weather as we can. If it's outside and you're in a hammock, it counts!

Glad to see some new guys getting in on this! It's also a great reminder to get out there and use that expensive gear! (if it just sat in the garage, I think my wife might not be as open to me buying NEW gear!)

#53, from the woods of northern Michigan. Stepped up my dinner this time with a bacon wrapped filet mignon.

Wow, that made me hungry just looking at it! Curious, amazing setup, but how do you get it to the sites? Pulk, ATV? I can barely get my meager setup into the woods sometimes!

Well, this weekend was car camping with a DNR rustic rental cabin in a Michigan state park, so I cheated. Normally, I pack alll of my gear on a toboggan and we hike in 2-3 miles for extended weekends in the backcountry.

Nothing wrong with car camping. Especially in winter when there are less folks around! I wish Ohio had some of the camping opportunities that Michigan has!

I just discovered this thread. I sleep outside at least once per week although I only get about one weekend on the trail per month. I hang in the backyard when I'm not on the trail.

Slept out behind my house lastnight in my ridgerunner. Temp went down to 25°f. I used my zero degree lynx underquilt and my zero degree diamondback topquilt. Decided to go without a tarp. Slept fantastic! Night 1 this year.
