I honestly stopped counting after I made the one year. I'm out every month now anyways. I think it's been almost 4years now and last year I think I slept outside in my hammock about 25% of the year. I remember July last year I was in my hammock over half the month for one reason or another! We nailed July and August this year with a two week trip out west that straddled the two months. Good times!

An even 4 years. Revisited one of my favorite sites (in Ohio, you have to take what's here.) up at Mohican State Forest. Great weather, so it really didn't test my equipment very much. I got there early, but it turned out I was probably the only camper in the entire park. Site 9 always has few surprises and this time there was any amazing array of 'shrooms and one critter that tried to crawl into the hammock with me.

No point in even bringing a tarp.

Got there early and processed more than enough wood for the night. Plenty left over for the next occupant.

This was the biggest bolete I ever found at this site.

Waking up from a short nap, I saw this guy crawling down my strap. He turned around when he hit my Amsteel (Permethrin soaked). A Spice Bush Swallowtail, if you're interested.

A fire, some liquid refreshments and my thoughts... Great way to end the month.

    a patch?

    i love that.

i've lost track, but i think i'm around 26 months into my personal one night every month streak? i officially started it two januaries ago but i know i camped in the previous december, november, october, september, august, july, june, may, and april. maybe march, definitely february.

i always go camping in november, december and february, so it shouldn't be that hard to fill in the rest?

#49 is in the books! This is getting way too easy. Just returned from 4 days and 3 nights on a backpacking trip to West Virginia. It was a whole new experience for me hiking down there and the scenery was worth the 9 hour drive!

Last minute get away for 49. Didn't get to the site until after dark in a light drizzle...no campfire, lousy pics, and muggy. At least no skeeters! First time I've needed to put up a tarp in ages.

The only pic that even came out!

    Thumbs up

got 2 more nights for the year though my son had a cold and coughed throughout the night. He got up 6 times over two nights. But it was still two nights in the woods.

I would not trade the time in the woods with my boy. plus the owls talking to each other on Friday night was amazing! sure beat video games, youtube, etc.

    10 nights for the year!

Sounds great, man! I've had a couple nights with vocal owls and it was amazing. And I agree, this monthly disconnect from electronics is really needed!

I lost track but did fairly well this summer, which is usually 100% shut down for me. September was big. October and November are set, and I'm sure winter will get me out as usual.

There was a fire ban at Grayson Highlands so I got my fire fix today. Good times around the campfire with some friends tonight.

Month 50! Minister Creek in the Allegheny NF. Diz and I made the trip mid week and hiked the North loop for a 3 nighter. The trail kicked this old man's butt, but it was worth it.
