Number 70. Family health issues still keeping me local, but we had a heck of a storm forecast, so I tossed up my main tarp and my first ever hammock (notice how faded she is!). It poured, thundered and had me questioning the safety of hanging from the tallest tree in the area! But it was a wonderful night. The family issue that's been keeping me from traveling has finally resolved and I hope to be getting some better hangs going forward.

    71. Broke out my original hammock again. Faded and repaired, but still a solid piece of gear. If I'm backpacking, I always take my freebird, but the Roaming Gnome is probably a skosh more comfy.

#72. Six years. In a crappy drive-up-camping state park. Pulled in late in a heavy rain. Had the tarp rigged in a couple of minutes, then took my time setting up inside. Spending a nice night listening to rain on the tarp.

I've loved this challenge. It's been a driving force to get me out and test my gear in a lot of different conditions. Thunderstorms, heavy snow, high heat, bugs. Met a lot of great folks and got comfortable being alone in the big scary woods at night.

Not sure if I'll continue posting, but I'll keep up the challenge. Lookingforarrows started this thread, but I'll renew his challenge. Don't wait for nice weather. Get out and see what you and your gear can handle!

Keep posting. I started in 2018 because of this post. I have since had almost one trip per month with my friends. We're quite fortunate to be able to do that.
Just like you say. Weather isn't an obstacle. We set aside time at least a month in advance, so we never know what kind of weather we face.

This friday is this month's trip. I look forward to it!

September done. Mild weather, clear skies. Very comfy and not a test of ANY of my gear.

Spending the night in my backyard. Second night in my DIY Bic style hammock. Made this one about four inches longer. Next one will be a bit wider. Overall it’s a nice comfy hang. These bridge style hammocks are a nice lay.

Came to this thread really late -- somehow never actually noticed it. What a great idea, and I've loved following some people's adventures in it. You go Hobopelican!

Month 74 in the bag. Headed out to Delaware State Park for a "combination" hang. Got my monthly in, my friend Mojo wanted to break in his Pop Up and it served as his bachelor party! I'd been to Delaware before and knew that hanging sites where almost non-existent, so I brought along my Hammeck Hammock stand! Weighs a ton, but it IS portable! A 6 mile morning hike with heavy fog didn't find us any Paw-Paw fruit, but I did find a boat load of huge Puffballs (Calvatia Gigantea?)!20211008_171541.jpg20211008_185548.jpg20211008_171555_rotation.jpg

@Jadekayak- Heat doesn't bother me, really. I actually use my 20F UQ anytime it's under 70F! Also, Every day is cool, but I can't pull that off. You should start an everyday thread!
