I headed up north to the piney woods with a friend on May 7 to get, well, another winter trip. Mid 20s for lows, 39 for a high one day with snow. Then sun. Then snow. It was a perfectly timed cycle every 30 minutes. Beautiful day actually and even got a sunburned face.

Just go out there and get some if you want it. Wanna dance 'Rona? Better bring your stuff.

Got May in at the last minute with Mad Turtle Creek. We were going to hit a State Park, but when we got there, every site was booked. I hiked out to a number of sites to see if we could join them, but they were so crowded that it felt like a KOA. Luckily, MTC got us into a private place he knew. Totally gorgeous weekend. Cool temps, clear skies, Hooting owls, good company and tons of fire wood!

Got June in the other day. 58 consecutive months. Diz and I hit Mohican State Park and it seems like usage is almost back to normal levels. Mild temps, no rain, no wind, not a real test of my gear in any way. Just a nice, relaxing hang.

Diz isn't due for a few hours...time for a nap!

    Diz's one match fire.

This little bugger attacked Diz and then attached itself to me. Wouldn't leave me alone! Not an expert, but seems like a Luna Moth?

I came out of the box hot for June. I did 5 days on Maumee River, doing all 137 miles of it from Fort Wayne, IN to Toledo, OH and Lake Erie. I brought the tent but was able to hang the hammock every night. Success!

Review is in the trip report section if you want the details and video.

That’s crazy you need tags for a kayak. I was expecting the DNR to stop me, but didn’t run into any. But being out of state I didn’t need to do anything.

I know! I bought my 'yaks in North Carolina on a trip and first time I got them in the water back in Ohio, a ranger got me! At least he was cool about it.

Month 5. Spent 3 nights in the Mark Twain national forest. Two separate trips in less than a week.

    Bell Mountain in my xlc

Second night off the ozark trail. Setup in the dark around 1am. Tight fit for the ridgerunner.

    Back on Bell mountain
