    Tension

Pecked around a little looking for an answer but got limited results. I feel like I've been setting my banyan ridgeline too tight. Does it fall into the 4 finger twist test the same as gathered end? Mine strums like a high G string when I get in.

Dwighop - how far apart are your suspension supports, i.e. trees? Or better, what is the angle of your suspension? I can only speak of WarBonnet's RidgeRunner though the Banyan might have similar dimensions and setup recommendations. The RR setup recommends a hang angle of around 25° to 30° and a distance between the apex of the dogbone suspension lines or around 13 feet - though one of my hanging partners prefers 12 ft. However, now that I think about it, the RR doesn't have a ridgeline.

So if you have a ridgeline, that sets the sag and limits any stress on a bug net. Guitar string tight seems a bit too tight, but it just means the ridgeline is doing its job. The bottom line is comfort. if you are still comfortable with a little more slack in the ridgeline setup that way. But if you need a tighter ridgeline, it's there for that.

However - there is a difference between someone who weighs 250+ lbs (near the limit of the hammock rating) with a hang angle of 15°, and someone who weighs 135 lbs. in the same configuration.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I hung it this afternoon. My trees were a bit farther than I thought so I just needed to raise the ends on the trees. A lot less tension on the ridgeline. Now to see how it sleeps.
