Planenut: I love the locations! A few months back I tried hanging at our condo on Sanibel Island.... and was gently rousted by security!

On the broom, Had to work with what I had.. Thanks,

We are lucky enough to get this spot on some of my Trips to Abaco. Great view, secluded, descent snorkeling and now a couple trees for the Hammock.

    Thanks again.

This is a great thread. I just started backpacking last November. I guess according to my Alltrails activity I've gone out on an overnighter every month since April. So 5 months straight and now 2 months straight with a hammock.

Looks like somehow my August post got lost... Let's try again, shall we?

Made it out to one of my favorite parks on the last day of August. Late start, so I got in after dark. Pleasant night with zero stressful weather.

That makes it 7 years of consecutive months hanging somewhere. I'll most likely stop posting here every time, but I'll keep watching for others trying to push their rigs boundaries. I plan to keep going, but for the most part, I'll just update my signature.

Oh, if anyone in the Ohio area ever wants company on a hang, I'm have a LOT of free time!

Went back to my go to spot at Henry W. Coe State Park. Most of the springs and ponds are dried up so camped close to HQ.

Of course, if it works, it works. But were it me, I'd put some "across" piece connecting the top of those 4 x 4's. Could be something small like a 2 x 2 or even smaller - just a spacer to assist the top of those beams against the inward pull.

Then again, looking that the ground near the 4 x 4 on the bottom right, that looks like it might be massive "I'm not going anywhere" concrete.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Weather is finally changing in Lower Alabama... cool enough to sleep outside. Got a couple of nights in last weekend and slept like a baby last night out in the woods I call my front yard. Tonight is supposed to dip down to 50... should be perfect!

Like cougarmeat said, I’d go with a cross piece as well. I was using 4x4s for a while until one day one of them just snapped. Now I use 6x6s just for that little ‘extra’ insurance
