I know I learned a few things about the Hennessy.

    - Need a bigger tarp and maybe a higher capacity model hammock

    - See if they make a bottom entry with a side zipper model so you have the best of both worlds. I think with my size and height bottom entry would be easier but I'd like side zip for chair lounging.

Bayou Russ- you can use the Hennessy hammock for a chair by pulling the bottom side up and sitting on it (though the ridgeline gets in the way).

Sure, that sounds fine. I did notice you live in a somewhat milder section of the country, so my counter challenge to you? Do an overnight somewhere with some deep snow pack! Fun challenge...much easier challenge than when my daughter said, 'hey Dad, why don't you sleep out in the hammock for 365 days straight?' Cheers!

Yea I've done that before but the side zip makes it nice to get the net out of the way and the ridgeline as well. My problem was when I'd get in the hammock to sleep the zipper would take off to my feet and getting to it was a bear.

But practice makes perfect, I've already made longer tree straps for our live oaks down here and work has slowed down where I can get out more often.

22 months in the bag! Heat, humidity, raccoons, but the worst tribulation was I forgot my dang spoon! Not liking the idea of eating hot chili with my fingers, I had to whittle a spoon out of a stick. Not pretty but functional!

You know the cool thing about this challenge and about getting fired up about hammocks? I have now slept outside more nights since January than I have in the past probably 5 yrs! Setting up a tent and sleeping on the ground just seemed like a chore and painful. Thank you for this challenge whoever started it!

Lookinforarrows started this, but he hasn't been around for over a year. It was a grand idea and, like you, I've really pushed myself because of his challenge. Snowstorms, rainstorms, high humidity, etc. Great idea to check your rigs in all conditions!

Yeh, I went back to post #1 after I wrote that. It IS a challenge. Found out yesterday and last night that our COGS tarps work in the rain!

7 from 7 and was a gorgeous night out with the kids. Campfire chilli and the little buggers ran all day long. weather was in the high 20's (c) used my normal set up without tarps. have put a link to vid which is also posted in trip reports.

please feel free to comment on vid as I'm using my channel to get my kids enthused by the outdoors, in reality they are just camping with their Dad.

June 2017 makes 18 months in a row for me. Hot and humid at Pinewoods Campground in Wisconsin. First time for me doing a double porch mode and I just tied off to trees and bushes (no trekking poles) and therefore didn't use any stakes. The wind would raise the tarp up and down and it looked like it was gently flying.
