I got out this past weekend for a Season 2, Week 5 hang in the North Georgia mountains.
It was a high of 26 on Saturday, pretty cold for Georgia. I lived in Chicago for 17 years and saw some wicked winters but never seem to get "used" to the cold.
It was a beautiful sunny day. The streets were a mess with the snow and ice so I took it easy getting to the campground.
Crossing a bridge, we came to our camping area. Car camping at its best.

We had the place all to ourselves as I expected.

I set up my hammock by this picture-perfect mountain stream.

I wanted to take a picture of my hammock without the tarp in place but the wind kept blowing snow out of the trees into my hammock.

We took a short hike before dinner on a trail by the stream.

We made it back to camp right before dark to get the fire rolling.

Then we put the pot on the fire. Lodge cast iron-fired chicken enchilada soup.

It got down to 14 degree overnight but I was toasty warm.
Gear: HG Burrow 20 degree OQ with two extra ounces of down in the foot box.
Woobie blanket (poncho liner quilt) put inside my Burrow. Made a huge difference.
JRB Nest QU. I then layered a Costco quilt on top of the UQ. It was good for another 10 degrees of warmth.
UGQ Winter Dream 12' tarp
2QZQ UQP - I really like this addition
Another awesome night in the woods.
