I had an overnight trip planned last weekend but that got scrapped when my mom decided to throw a surprise 60th birthday part for my dad. I figured it was more important for me to attend that so I missed my overnighter. As a result, I had to settle for a night in the backyard the other night to get my January hang in. We had some wet, heavy snow in the morning but the overnight temps weren't too bad at around 27 degrees. The rest of the year should be pretty easy now that I have the deepest part of winter out of the way. If I get another night with really low forecast I may hang in the back yard to see how low my gear can go as the lowest I've taken it is 17 degrees and I know I can go lower.

#12nights 5 for 5
We slept in the backyard last night and had a great night sleep our 0degree Ghost peppers were a little overkill for the low of 29... I never thought I would be complaining of being to warm in middle of winter. I did find out I have my suspension all messed up on the UQ's and after a little research this morning I think we have It figured out. Talk about barely making it in time for the 12 nights a year...IMG_3588[1].jpg Made the kiddo take a selfie before turning in for the proof (pic or it didn't happen) and she takes a better pic then myself. all in all a very warm uninterrupted slumber for us both.
First night under my belt now, great weekend to be out and about. Was not very cold, -12°c was the lowest.
Check out my youtube channel. Vids about hammock camping, geocaching and outdoor fun.
Adventures With Snide Tripod
Friday and Saturday night were spent in my hammock at a Boy Scout Klondike camporee. Mid 30's Friday night with multiple rain showers. Saturday night 28 degrees- no precipitation. Warm and cozy both nights- used a hot water bottle the second night as bedding was damp (mostly from condensation). Great fun was had by all.4 for 4 and February may offer more hammock nights.
My daughter and myself hung a night out on Jan. 30 2016, on the Elk river hiking trail in Southeast Kansas. At about 3:00 am temp was still in the low 50's so our 20 degree insulation was plenty warm. ( I was sweating). What a weekend for end of January.

Well, this month marks the halfway point for those of you that have been playing along since the beginning. The first 6 months have been very exciting and extremely motivating, keep the reports coming!
If you are participating in the challenge, no matter how far along you are, if you could respond on this thread https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...34#post1582034 it would very much help me get an idea of how many people are actively involved.
Thank you,
Matt
It's not survival gear, it's just a bunch of work
Maybe a yard hang after super bowl. Work is going to make the next two months tough.
