Starting the jeep and leaving it running is inconvenient and for this trip I'd love something like this to avoid having to charge at the car. Just looking for first hand experience.

I use a portable cell phone charger. The higher the mAh the more charges. If in doubt buy 2. Takes 24 hours to recharge them.

This is what I use. No solar power needed. Plenty of juice for multiple charges of all devices. Used it for 3 days and barely used it's charge.

Luminaid and Luci lanterns are pretty popular. I have the Luminaid lantern. It has 3 light levels and flashing. Luci makes a color changing one now, too.

Also look up http://sunlightlantern.com/. They are the original manufacturer of the Luci.

I use GoalZero, Guide 10. Small, fits in a map case for waterproof on my kayak. Never fails. The battery pack will charge an iphone from totally dead to full, two times. I will have it with me if you need it. I also have a couple of different battery packs. You are welcome to use as well.

    Regarding the charging of batteries.....

    No problem.

The Hall has about a dozen 110V standard duplex outlets where you can plug in. Obviously, no one is responsible for the security of any equipment you leave plugged in and unattended.

There are also outlets in the bathrooms. For curling irons, I guess.....
