Question Silly question - which side of the hammock is the inside/top?

I just got a new 11 footer and its my very first hammock. Its beautiful! I was wondering what side you generally consider to the inside or topside of the hammock. Is it the side with the hem flap along the edges or do you guys like to have that on the outside/bottom?

Dutch, I didn't find any tags on the hammock advertising your brand. That's some serious dedication to gram reduction but you deserve a logo on there somewhere.

I'm off to the hardware store to get parts for a turtledog stand for my yard. I can't wait to get into the woods.

In most cases it doesn't matter. However we always set them up so the rolled hem is on the inside. I'd like to get tags, but I just always have more important things to do.

Stand at the head end, flip the hammock 3 times counter clockwise on its axis then twice counter clock wise, the side facing you is the top side. ............

I always kept the hem on the outside. Who knew?

That is fine as long as you sleep under the hammock.

I'll give it a try. My thinking was that the hem caused friction and would be more likely to hang on something. If I put the hem on the outside then I have the smooth side next to my skin and there is no friction.

Same here. I didn't want to exit the hammock and slide across the hem and possibly damage the hem, pull the fabric loose, snag the hem etc.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

It really works either way. When we set it up with a ridgeline the hems are on the inside. It is really to make sure everyone is doing it the same way so I had to pick one. It also matters on the dobby because the one side is calendared.
