    Dangerbird options

    I'm starting to stress over the options for my Dangerbird build. I would like to hear your opinions on the vented overcover and extra zippers. Do you have them and not use them or is this something that you would not live without? Love to hear what y'all think.

    Is this your first hammock?

    What's the weather like where you live?

    My first build. My first hammock was a Skeeter Beeter Pro. I live in South Mississippi so most of the year is warm to hot. I am a pure wimp when it comes to cold as a result of the warm to hot that I am used to.

    Top covers have two main purposes, privacy and cold.

    From a privacy standpoint the vent isn't needed. For cold it will help condensation, but you could also use the zippers to create a vent I think.

    I just remember that hammeck did the vent thing before dream did. So on one hand, obv there is a demand for vented top covers, on the other dream hammock got along just fine without the vent.

    I don't have a top cover or a dream hammock fwiw, I just wanted to expand on your question's motive

    You remember incorrectly.

    The DangerBird has always had the ability for venting the overcover since it was first introduced back 11-21-2011. With the zippers meeting at the head end, you can simply unzip a little bit to vent the overcover.

    We began installing noseeum vented areas at the head end for folks who wanted back on 3-13-14. The vent allows those who prefer to keep the overcover completely closed. Keep in mind that there are times when it's beneficial to open the vent even further by unzipping a little.

    First I ever heard of this other hammock was 5-13-14. It had a zipper that closed on the side of the hammock and wouldn't allow the possibility of venting the hammock unless some other vent was provided.

    @Pappa, School is in session.

    @ catdaddy go for the vented cover. Hot or cold ventilation is nice to have. As to the extra zipper pulls, you can only use one at a time and there are two sides to the hammock. I would have 4 installed. That way you can exit and enter in the side you please.

    The zippers are nice to have on both sides. You are able to easily adjust the under quilt or get in and out on either side.

    This is the exact reason I got my DB three years ago. At the time, no other hammock (that I know about) had that ability.

    I am leaning this way. I ordered zippers on one side and I am thinking I really might want them on both sides, for the flexibility.

    I recommend the vent as well. One year into my dreamhammock I actually love all of the options, extra storage pouch, pull handels, pistol holder pouch, hyperD fabric, peak shelf, vented hood, etc. that i had Papasmurf make for me. Like they say, it's better to have the options and not use them, then to Need them and not have them. Happy customization and enjoy your awesome DreamHammock.
