I have my original stand made based off of Circusfreaks design I have 5’ legs and my distance between Hammock anchor is about 14.5’.

I fight having my Hammock off the ground high enough to sit in it without touching my butt on the ground let alone a under quilt.

I have two hammocks I have tried to use. A 11.5 diy and a 11 Dutch netless. Both suspensions are continuous loop on each Hammock, with a Dutch Binet connecting to a buckle/continuous loop on straps that go to the anchor point.

I really need to get a good Hammock stand setup by spring. This has huge potential but I am missing something and don’t want to keep throwing pipes at it to see what will work.

I’m wanting the sand to be able to fit in a 4’ bag if possible I want to do two stand to keep in my Adventure van.

Thanks for all the help. And thanks for the great concept of stand circus freak.

    Let the ideas begin lol

While not a compact setup, I am using 5' 8" legs and 15' length. In 11 ft Dutch netless, I am 15" off the ground. This is not terrible for me. However, I will eventually want a little longer (stand) legs...you see many people who use 7 ft (3+4 ft).

I made the legs of my stand in two pieces -- a piece of 1" conduit that slides inside of a piece of chain link fence tube. I think the longest is 42", but I will try to remember to measure tomorrow and report back.

Do you have the 1" diameter piece pinned to the chain link piece to prevent it from sliding while inside it? Any pictures?

I drilled holes and put in a bolt with a lock nut. (Idea was to have multiple holes to adjust height, but have not done that yet -- only used in backyard so far so no need for adjustment.) I'll try again to remember to measure and take a pic!

I'm seriously considering making one of these. I have a turtle-dog stand that I made. The legs were ripped from treated 2x4's, but they have a fair amount of knots in them. Plus, the tripod configuration adds about 5' to the overall length - too long for inside. I was considering the conduit to give me the ability to lengthen the legs. Also, I have some odds and ends of top rail floating around so I can lengthen the ridge pole if I want to hang outside with tarp. One 10' section of conduit would give 4 2.5' extenders which could increase the height by over a foot even with a full foot of conduit inside the top rail leg...

What does your setup break down to storage size for traveling? Looks like a nice setup.

See bag in left corner behind axe handle? It fits with extra pieces. The bag is for military tent pols but I bet a bat bag would work. Just need to be carefull of sharp ends.

4, 10 foot 6 inch fence tops cut to 42 inches

Legs use fitted ends connected - 8 sections
4 straight pieces for top using 3 connectors from taps.com
4 L fittings with pass through like others have used.

I had a detailed list posted as the idea before building but I can't find it on the site.

I use double ended prusik knot to keep legs from sliding.
