125" RL tarp for 11' hammock?

Just wondering if an 11' hammock has a chance of staying dry under my standard MacCat tarp (125")? Also, can i just gather the hammock end about a foot closer to make a 10' hammock? Thanks

Are you using a structural ridgeline? If you do gather it shorter dont forget to change that as well.

You can bring your tarp ridgeline down closer to your hammock ridgeline to increase the coverage..but probably only in a straight rain

The only way to find out is to hang it in the rain...preferably the back yard and not wilderness the first time.

If your hammock is commercially made and has a SRL it is likely 110"... that leaves you a little over 7" of coverage on each end. If you pitch your tarp low as DustHunter suggests you should be fine.

125" is very short for an 11' hammock. WB sold a 125" tarp for use with their 10' hammock as a tarp for experienced hangers who know what they're doing. With good site selection and careful pitching, it will probably work. But unless you are trying to save weight desperately, I would recommend going for a tarp with a longer ridgeline.
