    Favorite suspension setup!

I am new to hammock camping and I wanted to know what everyone's favorite suspension setup is, and what you use. I want to make my suspension as simple and plane as possible. So I thought I would ask you all what you use.

Please also specify what cord you used to gather your hammock ends.

Can you use one cord to gather and continue to the tree straps?

I have been using 12' tree straps and connecting to the end of my hammock with marlin spike. Is there a simpler way. The only issue I have is adjustment. It takes a few mins to adjust spike hitch but I want to make a suspension that doesn't cost much.

Straps > marlin hitch > whoopies > continuous loop on gathered end....... will be upgrading to the speed hook setup as soon as Dutch puts them back on the market.

I use 6' 1inch straps with ADutchable Clips and 6' Amsteel lead with Dutch Speed Hook to 6" Amsteel CL(continuous loop) larkshead to hammock.

Please also specify what cord you used to gather your hammock ends. Braided Mason's line thru sewn end channel to gather and tie it off. The hammock ends end up like a little knot ball. I wrap my UQ suspension here.

Can you use one cord to gather and continue to the tree straps? Yes, you can use a larkshead to hold the end. If you choose this, you may want to make the larkshead double wrapped to hold it secure when not loaded so it doesn't get loose.

To keep it simple with your straps, you can use a Dream Hammock Buckle to make it an adjustable connection without adding anything else.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Don't call the ultralight police! But I love my ENO atlas straps. I cut weight where I can but for some reason I like these enough not to cut weight there.

If you hammock camp with dogs, it's nice to be able attach the dog to the loops hanging down that you aren't using because then if they jump us startled, you feel it. Then again, if the dog strains at the leash all night, you don't sleep. Lol. But nice when it's a chill dog that doesn't move much.

So far my favorite are just a set of 10' mule tape straps. I'm always experimenting though.

So the slow motion part just kills me every time I watch this..... My wife keeps asking "What are you laughing at?.."

Tree strap with marlin spike hitch, whoopie slings, continuous loop. The loop is either larks headed around a bunched up wad of fabric or threaded through the end channel. I've got a video or two that shows it. Search YouTube for sidneyhornblower and you'll find them.
