    12ft Hexon 2.4 Hammock

Hello all. Just finished my new hammock made from Dutch's Hexon 2.4 Coyote Brown in a single layer. When I received the fabric I looked at it closely and noticed the different grid pattern. Sewing the material was a snap. I started with 153" and ended with exactly 144". Put a 120" ridgeline on and took it for a spin. Boy is this nice. Just a tiny amount of stretch with my 250lb in it, though on first impressions I may cut the hammock back to 11.5'. I'll play with it a few more days before deciding - it just feels a little long. The width is 59 inches - it started at 62 inches and I did a 1/2" roll hem down the sides.

If the wife likes it then we build another for her. Our other gathered ends are a little long in tooth and need replacement. Final weight is 17.85 oz - about 6oz lighter than our old dual layer hammocks.

    * Update I slept in it last night and the long length isn't bad at all. With the lack of stretch combined with the length, I had a fairly flat lay with no calf ridge. Now its the wife's turn.

That's a great looking hammock. Very functional too.

I know you make hammocks and have handled quite a bit of fabric.

How would you compare it to the HyperD?

If you've gotten the Hexon1.6, how does that compare to the HyperD?

    Thanks!

Thank you. Compared to the HyperD 1.6 (which I use a lot) the Hexon 2.4 has way less stretch. A dual layer of Hyper D 1.6 actually stretches more than the Hexon 2.4. I haven't tried the Hexon 1.6 yet, but will soon.

I am really liking the Hexon 1.6 I've had hammocks in 1.7 taffeta, 1.9 ripstop, PolyD 1.4, NylonD 1.6, DL 1.1 ripstop, and this so far is my favorite with NylonD a close second. Being in the warmer season, I really like the Hexon 1.6 because it doesn't have that sticky plastic like feeling on bare skin that I get when trying to lay in my NylonD shirtless.

Well I don't know how it really feels in the weather yet, but it does feel like cloth and not nylony so far. I've bounced in the hammock really hard and it still didn't stretch. I'm liking it.

I'm making one right now - dual layer Hexon 2.4 - probably overkill, but its for a bigger gentleman.

Your stitches look great. Well done. I have a Hexon 2.4 in gray. I really like that brown.

I am looking at 1.6 Hexon. I weigh 250# at 6'-2". I wonder if I would be better off with 2.4 Hexon?
