Found another type of sling that would suit the purposes of hanging a hammock...

Its called a "loopie sling" and is a continuous, adjustable loop.

It would appear to have the disadvantages of both the UCR and the Whoopie Sling.

Disadvantage of the UCR: one end is unloaded and can allow for slippage if not correctly handled.

Disadvantage of the Whoopie Sling: twice as much rope as the UCR.

Of course I could be looking at the picture incorrectly.
Those who sacrifice freedom for safety, have neither.

Its a continuous loop. So instead of 1 tail, youd have 2.

I works just like the whoopie sling, except no dead eye. When it gets loaded, its pulling on both sides of the bury.

Ill whip one up real quick....

I was mistaken, still only 1 tail. Those are C.A.M.P. nano biners.

Looks like the advantage is you can get them down to about as long as the bury. I was able to get that one down to 8". And you can still larkshead and toggle it to whatever you like.

Disadvantage... If you larkshead it to something, youd need to do it close to the dead tail. In the case of the picture, that would be the left side, just below the scissors.

    Well, I was wrong.

It does share the same properties as a UCR. I wouldnt trust it for hammock suspension.
