Both.....seems longer but mostly girthier. Especially on top of the foot box..
We just had a huge storm here with high winds and heavy rain. I sat out in it dry but some blowing mist. Then I bailed when limbs started coming down. Yard full of debris but dry in the Amok.

That's because the quilt has slide into the box. But I have another question. I use a pad that is 78" long, I'm 73 1/2" tall but when I'm in the Amok I'm too tall! Where did those extra inches go?

I find I have to make myself slide myself back when sleeping so my head is way back on the pad. Then I adjust my support straps so that I am not tipping back. I hold the ridgeline while doing this.

I bought the Warbonnet GT tarp, at someone's suggestion here on the board. Like it a lot--it has built-in full-size doors, center stake-out points at head end and foot end, ridgeline pretty short for fitting between closely-spaced trees, head and foot coverage quite adequate, and it's a bit lighter and cheaper than the Amok tarp.

We had a massive major storm last night. Winds to 70 mph and serious hard rain. I was in my Nut-Hut when it started so went out to sit in the AMOK to see how it was in that hard rain and wind. Other than a bit of mist all was good and dry and the tarp held and was very waterproof. But once limbs started dropping I bailed. I was sitting there when a 70mph blast hit. Pushed the tarp down on me but held.
One of our big trees dropped a limb on neighbors house..dealing with that.

Glad you made it through and wasn't hurt but one question? I've watched a lot of your videos on UTube so here's my question? Where's all the stuff you usually have in your yard?

It's all on the "set" where he shoots his videos. The above pictures are in his real back yard!

All kidding aside, just good to hear that all is well. Storms and high wind spare no one.

I think I may have been the first to mention the WB GT tarp with the Amok. It is the only tarp I use with it at this point. I really like the fact that you can close the doors for greater protection from the elements. (Although Shug's experience showed that the Amok tarp is pretty bombproof!)

One of the things I liked about the Amok tarp was the velcro straps that wrap up your guy lines. I have attached some velcro straps (like used to bundle AV cords) to the tie outs on the GT. Really handy to keep the lines under control.
