Shaz23~~ I stitched a loop of thin ribbon on the back seam, midway down the netting. Then I added length to the back tie-out bungee that pulls the head-end out and ran it up back up to the ridge point [line goes head-end to tarp and back up to ridge thru loop] Now when I pull the head-end tie-out snug, it lifts the netting up off me as well.

    Ted,

Glad to see that this thread is thriving.

What I've learned through the newer posts is that the 2016 version has a more ample foot box. I am going to take Shug's advice and get a newer version. Will probably keep my green 3.0 for one of the grandkids. (Or the boss (wife)). Will probably get the rust color so as to make it easy to recognize each. Will set up my current 3.0 this week-end and experiment a little with my WB Superfly tarp to see if I can get it set up the way I envision. If I do, I'll forego the Amok tarp on the new acquisition.

In any event, thanks for getting this thread started last year. Seems like it's going to be one of those threads that will withstand the test of time.

BTW I too would like to see Amok provide an update on the XL version for us bigger guys. I am 6'1" and 255lbs. I push the limits of the current version. The bigger foot box will help, but having some additional body length would be awesome.

See you in Denmark in a few weeks.

    All the best !

I set mine up in the back yard a couple of months ago and it was fantastic!

Our troop members went in on a bulk buy they promoted with BSA so we saved a ton of money on the 2.0 version.
Abiding to the "A Scout is thrifty" element, I opted to purchase a 78" x 26" x 4" mattress off eBay for the staggering price of $10 and slid my z rest pad over it. Then it was dream like. The tarp is worth what we paid for the whole system by itself.

A few of the taller members have complained about the cramped foot box and since we got such a great deal on them we are considering modifying them ourselves. If anybody has modified theirs to accommodate the 6+ footers I would like to hear the details.

    Thanks and HYOH
Happy Trails to one and all.

I have one of the newer ones and the footbox is much roomier. I would say split the top of the footbox and just add in a big piece to open up the top of it a bit.

Shug, I'm 6'3" - they advised me to wait. What are your thoughts?

Thanks Flash and Tord. I had mine shipped to my brother in FLA, then he shipped it up to me in Toronto, Ontario (hoping to avoid the custom's charges). I was super excited to get it and the first week of June, my partner (with his Blackbird XLC) and I headed up to Algonquin park for a week-long canoe trip. First night we car camped in order to set up our new gear for the first time and work out any kinks. The Amork went up quickly and easily. With a little tweaking, the bug net was fine. My pad, however, (the Exped 9 LW Synmat) let me down. The first time I got in the hammock I heard a weird noise like fabric rubbing hard on fabric but couldn't figure out what it was. Fell asleep immediately - it was extremely comfortable - but part way through the night, heard that sound again and felt something shift beneath me. By the middle of the night, three baffle seams had blown and I was trying to sleep on the few baffles still usable while hoping the huge lump wouldn't wreck the seams of the hammock. So, I couldn't use my hammock for our canoe trip. I was extremely disappointed. We had also brought our 1 person MSR tent so for our canoe trip we took turns sleeping in the XLC hammock (which was awesome). I have since bought a Big Agnes insulated Air Core but haven't yet had a chance to try it out.
But this did bring up a big issue with the Draumr; it's useless if your mat gives out. So, I've just purchased an "emergency" hammock to take - a Grand Trunk. I've also recently ordered JRB bottom quilt for the "emergency" hammock (and a top quilt to use with everything).
Shug, LOVE the new colour! I bought the blue one. Did you sleep in it last night?
