Has anyone tried other tarps with the Draumr? If so, wondering what make/model/size.
Im thinking of saving up for the hammock, but would be great if i could use one of my existing tarps to soften the blow of the investment needed for the new setup.
    Thanks!

I think a 10 foot wide tarp would be needed. 10 feet from side to side.
The tarp they sell for it works perfectly though for it's intent.

Funny that there should pop up this evening. Where I camped last weekend, the red squirrels kept knocking crap out of the hemlocks all weekend.
I was really glad I had rigged a second tarp over my cooking area.
I just unearthed an old, 10'x12' nylon-PU tarp that I had re-waterproofed/silicon sprayed last year. I was planning on stringing it up tomorrow to see if it would work as a shade tarp for better weather, when I don't need the custom-fit feature of the AMOK tarp itself.
I will try it out both directions, and try to get some pictures taken.

Not sure when there will be another discount. I know the Whooooo Buddy Shug Discount was a special one-off. It was pretty good deal.

I did get my old PU tarp hung today... sorta.
I opened it up, and hung by the ridge points, but then discovered that it didn't have nearly as many edge tie outs as I had thought to try other configurations.
It also proved to be only 11' x 9' 6 inches.

However, I can tell you that the 11 foot width is certainly more than the Draumr takes... That width of tarp would provide sufficient coverage. And I can also say fairly confidently that's the 9 foot six [front to back] is probably a bit too small... Side to side it might be alright.
Thread injectorfication is a skill, and machinery, that I do not possess. I'm going to have to see if our local seamstress would put a couple tabs on my tarp edges.

I drank the Shug Koolaid right away and ordered a 3.0. It was shipped out here to Kwajalein in reasonable time. I ordered the pad from REI and received it as well. So I tried it for several times and had a tough time getting in and out but managed to get that accomplished. My proble, was that I could not get comfy in the darn thing. So, I contacted the Dramur folks and true to their word, sent me a RMA number and I shipped it back. I guess I just like my 72 inch wide thunderbird and my WBBB XLC better. Again, this is just me and the company performed flawlessly. Great concept however.

Apropos to Pacific Atoll's comment just above, my 30 day return period is up, so I guess I'm the proud owner of an AMOK Draumr 3.0 !!

Break out the needle and thread, and let the mad modding ruckus commence.
First up, a ribbon loop at the end of the foot box, so that I can pull the box and the top/back together up at the webbing strap with a carabiner, and fold the unit up and out of the way.
Then a ribbon loop behind/under the zipper in each peak-cap to allow a prussic-ed slackline to be pulled across... for gear hanging when the bug-net is deployed and you can't reach up and out to the ridge webbing.
