    Hello from Durham, NC

    Hello Hangers!

My GF and I are both brand-new to hanging. Ordered a couple of Warbonnet Ridgerunners and tarps, and looking forward to our first group hang. We're completely new to this, so if you have any tips or advice, please do let us know!

We're getting into Bikepacking and we're excited about our newest gear addition. If you're interested in hanging or bikepacking, please do reach out. :-)

Anyone know of any good places in/around Durham to hang?

Welcome from Fuquay-Varina! I hung at Umstead a few weeks ago - pretty nice for an overnighter w/facilities. Jordan Lake can also be fun, especially if you have access to a boat/canoe/kayak.

    Thanks Caminante!

Did you rent a 'primitive' spot or just throw your gear up? I'm not far from there and would love to go, not sure where to hang though.

In both cases I go to the state parks as my wife and girls require the bathrooms... I think they run ~$20/night. I believe that Eno SP has primitive sites for ~$15/night, but I haven't camped there.

The online reservation system for the parks is actually pretty nice because you can see a photograph of each campsite to be sure there are a few trees.

Welcome from Roxboro, NC. I have been to Eno state park several times and camped.you can either go to cole mill rd. access or right down the road to pleasant green access (primitive camping about a mile in). I like to hike the trails through the Eno to Falls Lake (Shinleaf) primitive camp ground. These trails are part of the mountain to sea trail here in North Carolina. There are a few free spots to hang along this section (one along red mill rd. in northern Durham county and the other at falls lake in Wake county.
I would advise wait until the weather turns cooler..(ticks are terrible at the free spots)!! Here's a link you may enjoy...http://www.ncmst.org/ In the fall and winter these hikes are very nice and right in your backyard!! Here's another link as well...http://enotrails.com/.....I really like the 25 mile trip in the fall he has mapped out..

Welcome from Charlotte. The bikepacking sounds fun - never done it but I see the appeal. Enjoy the Ridgerunners

Welcome from Raleigh! There are plenty of great places in the area to get away without going too far. There are a few different places on Falls Lake that are nice too. Depending on weather (as I stare at gray clouds over the RTP right now) hoping to get out for a bit of napp...err...i mean testing this weekend.

welcome to the madness from down on the coast.

please join us at one or more of the group hangs coming up this fall.

The Ridge Runner is The Terminators favorite hammock these days. What do you plan to use for bottom and top insulation ?
