Not to confuse things more, but I wouldn't over look the Hammeck netty. I have an Envy S, but I can go take the cover off and put on the netting only. Great people to deal with and top quality too!

Dream Hammock makes some pretty good stuff. Did you check the get together forum? You might be able to find someone local where you can check out a few different models in person to help you decide.
I didn't know about the together forum...I'll check it out. Thanks
Best thing is to have a test ride in both before you buy if possible. I was able to try a WBBB XLC and a RR recently. Both were pretty comfy and well made. Didnt "get" the advantage of the shelf, I prefer a ridgeline organizer. So I ordered a Dangerbird from DH. Its for my wife so the colour options were really nice for her. Now.....just patiently waiting for it to arrive.
Hash browns and bacon strips , I like the way you lick your lips
Good idea ps22285
I keep hearing about the WBBB and its footbox. Does this differ than just a regular gathered end hammock (like DH I assume is made)?
It appears that some hammocks are actually made offset/diagonal while others are straight end to end (if that makes sense).
Well, the footbox was created to give your feet space without putting tension on the bug net. Brandon and others say that it doesn't change the lay of the hammock. However, quite a few people - me included - think it does. What the footbox does is, that it pulls the lower right edge of the hammock body together. Usually, the weight of the legs and feet does this anyway - but I think the footbox takes quite a bit pressure off the legs, by pre-forming the "channel". It also allows you to lie much closer to the edge than you can in other hammocks. For me this means a flatter lay and less or no calf ridge. But this probably depends on how and where you like to lie in the hammock in the first place. I can lie much flatter in my BB than in my DHRG.
With regards to the hammock body itself, there are no differences (apart from length / width): with very few exceptions, all hammock bodies consist of a rectangular piece of fabric. And pretty much all gathered end hammocks require you to lie diagonal to get a reasonably flat lay.
I'm kinda shocked nobody brought up the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beater Pro..
Rather generic when it comes to a gathered end hammock with bug screen, but I really like it.. Been camping in it exclusively for two years now.
Here's my camp at the ADVrider Central Rally last weekend.. Warm enough that I didn't need an underquilt..
And two weeks earlier at the Wisconsin MotoGuzzi Rally..
No man is an island. Except the Isle of Man.
One thing I learned about Hammeck Netty is that you have to choose which way you want to lay, because the net is cut asymmetrical.
It is very similar to the DH RoamingGnome, but the RoamingGnome is not side specific....so one can change they way they lay.
Just an observation.
No, the RoamingGnome has an asymetrical lay as well. Unless you ask DH to build you something different. But they don't do that standard. With the exception of the FreeBird, all DH hammocks have asymetrically cut bug nets. Actually, most gathered end camping hammocks on the market are asymetrical - the exceptions being the Switchbacks, Clarks and DD hammocks.
