I finally had a few minutes to set up my tarp, unfortunately, the ground is still very much frozen and the pole mod puts some fairly good resistance up on the corner stakes.

Didn't get great photos, but here is what I have.

Barron 23, is that a single pole? It looks that way. It is definitely what I like.

Yeah, single pole, centered, beneath the tarp. I need to set it up again and get decent pictures, the ground was frozen when I set it up last.

Took my new 12ft Winter Dream out on its maiden voyage this weekend into the SC mountains. Mid 70's during the day and mid 50's at night. Perfect.

    I love this tarp!!!

What I call Standing Porch Mode. Very convenient.

Both sides pulled down, couldn't believe the space. It was like a Hobbit Hole.

Finally I get to show off my tarp. I made the DIY Winter12 from Ripstop by the Roll. The poles for my pole mod came cheap off ebay, a single pole that I separated into two.
"Outdoor Camping Tent Poles Hiking Travel 11 Sections Aluminum Alloy 8.5mm 404cm" (about $14.50)
    and a couple ends
2Pcs Φ6.0mm 17mm Aluminium Alloy Spare Tent Pole end plug for 7.9mm DIA ($6.38)
breaking the single pole into two pieces at a great savings.

I set up the rig last weekend and I like it. I can see I am going to have to use a continuous Ridge line, but for first set-up I like how it will work when I need protection. So far my tarp has been able to be stretched way out as I have only seen fair weather, but you just know some night that storm is coming.

Over 2 years later, and still no side by side by side pictures of ext, cent, end pole mods. I appreciate everyone's pictures, they really helped! I have searched on here, and on youtube. I may just not be typing the right combination of works in, idk. Still debating on 11' or 12'. And, which, or all pole mods...

I have a 12' with end and center internal mods. I opted not to get the panel pulls for the external mod on that tarp and don't regret it. The internal (end) poles are a little heavier, bulkier, and more expensive than the external poles, but I think they do a better job of opening up the tarp (IMO). I like the cleaner look of the tarp without the panel pulls, and they represent added leak possibilities.

The porch mode possibilities with the internal end poles are also excellent, especially if you don't use trekking poles.

Shown pitched high with just the center pole.
