    Recent BWCA trip

I have some photos uploaded to this site, but for reasons unknown to me, cannot post them in a thread, but can be viewed in my gallery.
Anyhow, We entered BWCA at entry point # 47, Lizz Lake. we had a great time doing about a 20 mile loop including some fishing. The BWCA was and is very busy this time of year, and we did struggle slightly to get a campsite on the first day in.
The weather cooperated for the most part, but when it rained, my son and I stayed dry in our first true extended hammock outing.

We are going through that entry end of September. We normally enter through Sawbill, but switched it up this time. Any bits of intel worth noting?

Only that the island campsites are usually very popular, and therefore don't have much wood available if you wish to have or need a fire.
When we got to Caribou, we headed west (straight into the wind) and all the sites were occupied that we passed. When we got close to the portage to get to Meeds Lake, a moose was grazing on aquatic plants right in front of it. After a careful approach, the moose left her dinner table and allowed us to pass. Then we had to continue into the wind all the way to the end of Meeds to the only open campsite we saw the first day, which had just been vacated by 2 fisherman heading the opposite direction.
Anyhow, I have entered Sawbill before, but not since I was a wee lad. Have you ever taken that 1.5 mile portage near that entry? I hated it when I was a kid.
