Hello from Southern Va. I too am new but have found that the forum and vendors are incredibly helpful. I found Harry at Hammock Gear to be a great resource and he speaks highly of HG as well as other vendors so you get your questions answered and then can make your own decisions. I can't believe that I slept on the ground for so long and I love the ease of finding a spot to camp. Good luck!
