Hammock: Insulated with Integrated Bugnet. The HIIB?

Okay, so it needs a better name. I'm open to suggestions. Some of you may have seen my build progress thread but I wanted to start a new thread to showcase my completed project! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves

    Some notes:
    • I still have to tie the quilt loop threads and trim them... Sounds like a movie night project!
    • The biners at the end of the tarp are soon to be replaced by mitton hooks
    • Orange = Head end

Now for the fun part... Weights!
    • Hammock (with insulation, bugnet, ridgeline): 769g
    • Suspension (15' straight length of Amsteel): 38g
    • Tree Straps (7' and 8' Kevlar with sewn loops): 121g
    • Aluminum Toggles: 6g
    • Tarp (with all lines and pegs): 469g

    For a grand total of 1403g or 3lb 1.5oz!

Pretty stoked about it. Now I just need to make a couple stuff sacks, a pillow, and a top quilt!

Ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer!

Looks beautiful. I wish my bugnets looked like that! What cord or thread will you use for quilting loops? I've tried heavy nylon (69), but it doesn't hold knots well.

Mighty fine work, really well done.

What is the knot/bend/hitch you're using for your suspension to connect the amsteel to the strap?
    Good luck,

Thanks! The hammock is approximately 10'6" and the insulation is Poly-Down quilt batting from Fabricland.

Thanks so much WV! Your insulated slings were my inspiration for this project

I just used regular poly sewing machine thread for the loops as I didn't do them by hand. There are so few of them and I'm not expecting to go for super low temps, so I just machine stitched them!

The bugnet is the NS50 from RBTR and it is truly amazing.

OH and I forgot to mention: the ridgeline and the prussic loops for the tarp attachment are 250lb fishing line. Really great stuff!

Thanks Redoleary! I think it's called the Quick Hitch? I've changed knots so many times I can't remember check out the Beckett Hitch thread in the suspension forum for a bunch of great knot development!
