    Strap Anchors?

Hi all, does that Strap Anchors work with 1/8th amsteel as my continuous loops on the hammock are 1/8th?

Also, any issue using the Strap Anchors with kevlar straps from Dutch?

    Thanks.

There shouldn't be any problem using them with 1/8" amsteel, as I can fit two loops of 7/64" amsteel in the narrowest part of the anchor easily.

I might be the only person that regularly posts on the forum that has used the anchors with Kevlar straps. A couple others have posted they were thinking about trying it after I confirmed that it works, but I haven't heard that they did so.

In my testing, I did find some evidence that either the straps were stretching ~1/4" over the course of the night, or slipping through the anchors by that much. I never got around to testing which it was. Maybe I will do that tonight.

Sorry, I haven't been on here a lot lately as I am burning the candle at both ends. There shouldn't be any issue with using 1/8 at all.

    Thanks,

I just recently purchased Strap Anchors and Kevlar straps to use together, I believe on WaffleBox's recommendation... but my trip last week was foiled by a treeless campsite, so I haven't been able to try them for real, yet. Will hopefully have time to set it up and post photos soon. Then will be definitely using this setup "in the field" in a couple weeks.

Just fiddling in the gear room, the anchors threaded on the straps fine and seem secure. Looking forward to using them.

I have 7/64" Amsteel loops so can't help with your first question, sorry.

I use kevlar with the strap anchors. Haven't slept overnight with them, but adjustability and ease of use is a 5/5. I would recommend sewn on or regular dutch clips with the kevlar, as I have read and heard of self abrasion when girth hitching or passing through itself around the tree. Haven't noticed any stretch.. But I would be interested in your findings Wafflebox.

For those using the anchors with Kevlar straps do you feel if the slots where the strap passes through were thinner it would help eliminate any potential slippage? I'm actually looking to DIY a set. So I'll be able to play with the dimensions a little if it will work better with the Kevlar.
And for those worried about abrasion on the amsteel, I'm considering a solution similar what Brandon does on the Ridge Runner. Where the amsteel rests on the buckles , he appears to have a piece of plastic or heavy duty heat shrink covering the amsteel. You could put something similar on the dogbones where they rest on the anchors. I want to say I've seen someone on HF do something similar in another application with clear plastic tubing.

Making a little smaller wouldn't hurt...but I don't think it matters all that much. Only problem is to finish kevlar straps you normally have to roll hem the end rather than a cut and burn because well... it's kevlar.. So it was kind of difficult for me to get that end with extra fabric in the slots as-is.
