Finally back to backpacking.. what are some recent alternatives to WBB / Darien UL

Long story short but I haven't been able to get to the woods in the last year due to work (ironically trying to sell my company so I can spend more time in the woods).

I'm looking to purchase another hammock for my GF ... I was thinking about another WBB but the Darien UL also looks decent.

Are there any other options I can go with?

I guess I would prefer something that is UL and has a bug mesh.. .but flexible.

Both sons and me have Dariens. There hammocks are 1.1 ripstop. I think they weight 14oz with the woopies attached. Not sure if that's still available.

    Mine is 1.7. Love them.

Randy and Deanna make some great hammocks! I have a Thunderbird but if I were to get another one, which I will at some point, it will probably be either a Roaming Gnome or a Darien. The Roaming Gnome is nice because you can unzip both sides and go netless or adjust your uq if needed, it is a little heavier than the Darien though. Either way you cant go wrong with a Dream Hammock!

Sure; have you looked at Simply Light Designs? Their Trail Lair is getting good reviews. There's also Hammeck. And of course plenty more hammock makers who make no-nets plus socks etc.

I've just made a new hammock out of the extra wide polyD from ripstopbytheroll. While not quite as professional looking as the current offerings from the top vendors, it is very comfortable and the bugnet can unzip on both sides and tuck away or just unzip completely. Only spent around $50 for all materials. If you can inject some thread, it might be something worth looking into.
