Red face Cheap Joann's fabric suggestion?

I need to buy some cheap fabric to play around with mockups for a hipbelt pocket. I don't care what kind of fabric it is, as I'm only using it to come up with measurements. I don't want to wander around looking at prices until I find the cheap stuff, so I'm hoping some of you will know offhand what usually has the lowest prices there. I will also obviously look at the scrap area. It needs to be from Joann's rather than Walmart, as Joann's is only a couple blocks from my house and I don't want to drive out to Walmart.

    Thanks!

If you are only using to check size or pattern than I would use Muslin. It is very cheap.

They also have a black polyester mesh which is hipbelt pocket-esque, and would be pretty cheap with a coupon.

There's nothing cheap in the fabric department at JoAnn's - I don't even bother looking anymore. They usually carry some 1.9 oz. ripstop that is exorbitantly expensive.

I do agree generally that JoAnn's is very expensive. The Muslin is $1.19/yrd. That is cheap. Coupons will make it even cheaper.

I was surprised because that was even cheaper than walmart which is $1.29/yrd.

Since it sounds like your not needing a whole lot of fabric, try using an old shirt you have no need for and repurpose it. No driving.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

That would be a great idea were it not for the fact that I'm kind of fanatical about getting rid of clothing I no longer use. It gives me some kind of sick pleasure. So I rarely have old shirts on hand.

My walmart always has a clearance fabric section. 1.50-1.99 a yard.
