25" would do ya' well. Never even tried a 30" so can't say.

Shug's right, as usual. 25" wide should be fine.
I've tried a bunch of different pads in my Ridgerunner, and like the relatively new Sea to Summit ones best, for now. There's a comparison of an Exped pad to one of the Sea to Summit ones in the Review section, here: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...Hyperlite-pads in case that's helpful for you. [The advantage of an inflatable pad over a closed cell pad is that the inflatable pad tends to widen the hammock out, and raise you up a bit more.]

Can't help, having no actual experience - but some thoughts...
The width between the two hammock layers at the narrowest point is 27". Depending on the pad, a 30" pad may fit by squeezing at the center, which may also help to keep it in place, or may make it bunch up uncomfortably. A 25" pad will fit nicely but the extra 5" at the shoulders would be nice if you can make it work.

Don't see why you couldn't cut a pad to an hour glass shape to use in the RR.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Just re-checked my notes. The narrowest width of the hammock bed is 29", not the 27" I stated earlier. A 30" pad should work fine.

A 30'' pad works great. It gets snug enough that it is held into place very well. I'd say an underquilt is really the best option, but a 30'' pad is also fine.

I've used a 30" Klymit pad and it works very well.
I use a 25" pad but would like to try a 30"er. I like the suggestion of cutting it into a slight hour glass shape if needed.
