Reflective or mute blending in colors for ropes and hammocks

I constantly tripped over guy lines on my tent. Do people prefer all the ropes to be bright colors to keep them from running into them, or blend in colors so that they are not noticed?
I know the leave no trace theory, looks like you should blend in, but just curious as to what people end up going with.

Personal preference. We have stocked reflective cords for years and sell a lot of it. Many folks though pick bright colors as well without the reflective tracers. In reality a 12 foot side of a tarp is far more noticeable than the cords coming off of it....at 20 feet most folks won't even see the cord in day time...but at 100 yards they can still pick out the tarp. LNT is all good things to keep in mind but unless you plan to be tucked in well back in the woods people will see you and your gear. I prefer that no one trips and gets hurt more than not be able to see whats there to trip over.

I think most people would want reflective, i prefer to add reflective on my own terms vs having it built in by the manufacturer, that way if the need arises, i just disappear. .. you can't do that if the reflective material is a permanent part of the equipment. That said, your tarp lines can be temporary if you carry a non-reflective set. If you decide you need to stealth camp, you just use the cammo set instead, and the rest of the time use the reflective set. Myself, I've never had trouble with tripping over the lines. I always plan my entrance and egress and run my lines accordingly. But then, I usually run solo too. Also I can see going exploring for the day and getting back late, arriving from an unfamiliar angle and walking right past the site at dusk, but with reflective lines and a flash light, that might not happen.

Outside of either hunting or a scenario where society has collapsed and staying hidden becomes a matter of survival, I will never understand the "blend in" philosophy.

Despite being blind in one eye and can't see out the other, I rarely trip over Zing-It. It's more than bright enough for me.

I don't like reflective cords. It just seems unnatural. Any cord with some color is plenty visible to me. I guess I could understand it in a scout camp.

Reflective cord is really, really handy in a big hang (think FHV or equivalent) when there are tons of setups hanging everywhere. I blast through the woods with a good headlamp and you can pick out your particular tarp setup from the rest.

Agree, at night is when the reflective lines make the most difference. During day, it's hard to see most lines from a distance and colors only appear as you get really close. I use Pink braided Mason's line, but others still trip on them. Here are a few examples and they can be seen in some areas and not so good in others.

I happen to use blaze orange for guy lines to ground, and reflective for lines to the trees for my rainflies.

I do trip over guy lines, or at least used to all the time.
