2QZQ UnderQuiltProtector designed to hold a pad???

    -
    -
    Donna here...

We are looking into the possibility of designing an UQP that will contain a pad in a specific place. One idea...four pieces of fabric would be sewn onto the UQP that the pad would tuck into to keep it in place. Another idea...sew a piece of fabric to the UQP creating a pocket to hold the pad in place. The second idea would probably be the easiest.

We would use Argon 90 for the UQP.

Ummm...might need a new name...not protecting an UQ.

What size pad do most use? We might be able to offer different pocket sizes.

We would need to offer a right or left hammock lay.

    Any thoughts??

Hopefully we will have some time to hang Tim's hammock this weekend and start the process. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

Could not one just flip it over for right or left lay?

I like the concept. I would consider the wider pads since they are the one wide enough to weap a bit around the shoulders. A thinner pad could still be used.

If this is for a summer UQ I think the idea is great. I would question how well it would work beyond a summer application or anything real cold. The direct contact with the pad is critical to eliminate the airflow. The gaps would be hard to control if the pad is on the outside of the hammock unless it was up against it rather tight.

Probably...but the pocket would be on the outside underneath the UQP. I think it would be better to have the pocket inside with the weight of the pad on the UQP and not the pocket fabric. Less stress on the stitching.

    Thank you for your thoughts!

    How about IholdaPAD

The name might stay as is. We would include a pad pocket option. See my response below to sashasrd's post.

We have been told by numerous customers that they have used the UQP holding a pad, with success. We don't have any first hand experience with this.

Yes...using an UQP to hold a pad underneath a UQ should add warm above what the UQP by itself would. Hopefully there wouldn't be and condensation issues affecting the UQ?? I will have to ask Tim.

    Thank you for your thoughts!

We were outside testing earlier this evening. We actually feel we can tweak the design of the UQP without having a pad pocket, and it will work nicely to hold the pad in place. It would be a very simple tweak.

We want to do more testing. We need to get some Reflectix first. If we are confident with the outcome, we would then offer a separate design for the UQP to be used with a pad. The person would need to have a hammock that allows access to the UQP and pad while laying in the hammock.

If we do feel confident with this idea…we would like two testers that would be willing to purchase at cost of fabric and shipping.

I will contact the first two willing, with specifics of the design, cost and a time frame when they would be ready. If OK with them, then we will finalize the transaction by them filling out the order form on our website with payment to follow.

Donna, I would be interested per PM. Let me know when you have a pad and are further along with the design.
