What is the shortest hammock you have ever made

I know Sgt Rock has the Ghost series that he likes, and that others have replicated.

Has anyone gone shorter, and if so what did you discover about how it felt to you?

The shortest I've ever gone was was 8.5' when I was playing around with some fabric one day ( knotted the ends and hung my suspension behind the knots ). It felt fine for lounging, but I didn't commit to an all-nighter. I've since sewn channels in it and converted it back to a 9' hammock.

I'm sure width plays some variable in comfort as well so that could be a factor to consider.

I actually made one that was about 8.5' as a test for the concept of foot and head boxes. It was VERY comfortable the way I sewed the body. Unfortunately that hammock would never be a durable or sustainable as I learned that style of footbox/headbox will always eventually fail at the edge.

I made one that had it's opening at about 6'1". With tied ends, maybe it was 7', but I doubt it. When I laid in it, my head touched one end and my feet touched the other end.

I miscut fabric and ended up just going with it to try an 8ft x 50" hammock... It was way too short/narrow for me at 6'3" lol.

My UL hammock is 9 feet by 4.5 feet.

    It's okay.

The shortest one I've made is about 36" long by 20" wide. Of course it was only for gear.

I put my thoughts to action and made a 104" X 50" hammock from some 1.9oz ripstop. I went out last evening and hung in it for about 30 minutes, and didn't seem to have any issues getting comfy in it.

I'll put some overnight time in it when it cools off a little around here. If it sleeps well I'll probably replicate it in a slightly lighter fabric for backpacking.

This is the shortest hammock I have yet to make but it was for a different purpose.
