I knew the dates sounded familiar when I put them on my Google calendar, but I couldn't figure out what else was going on that weekend.. So I looked at my calendar at work and I'm on vacation from the 24th through the entire weekend (good thing!) but I'm not going camping with you fellers.. (bad thing)
I'm headed to the Chippewa Flowage, just SW of Haward for a fishing weekend with two other friends.. We get to stay for free with a local who fishes about 100 days a year out his back door.. And it'll be the first time I'll get to use my "new" boat on bigger water..

So my hammock weekend with you guys is out.. But at least it's not for work.

Dang, I stop checking on the thread for a few days and that's when all the action happens!

You can formally count me in for the weekend. I have already arranged work off that Friday.

Are day activities a free-for-all or is there something planned? Or are we not that far yet?

I'll have to do some thinking about a potluck something. I tend to do the fast-and-light freeze dried stuff which suits me fine for personal meals but is nothing if not a bit boring...

So far it seems to be free for all. Tumbleweed talked about touring on his motorcycle. I'm small game hunting and wild edible plant foraging. JTGumby mentioned he could bring a canoe if there was interest. Dunno what the rest will be doing.

Of course everything is weather dependent. I'm bringing a couple extra tarps so we have more dry space if it rains (the campfire must go on!) or if anyone needs to borrow one.

I haven't figured out what I'll be bringing to share yet either. Thinking fresh donuts in the morning might be nice, so that's my default choice for now. Depending on how many people are showing up, we may need more brats, buns and fixings.

I save the freeze dried for through hiking. With car camping it's almost the same as cooking at home.
