    Truck Bed Stake Hole Anchor

    Hi Friends,
Here is a hammock anchor I made for the "stake hole" in the bed of a pick up truck. It greatly expands your ability to put up a hammy where YOU want and keeps you close to your vehicle.
I way overbuilt it, but looking back there are still ways to make it even tougher.
Some folks will have enough plumbing, carpentry leftovers and hardware kicking around to make it from scratch. I waited too long before the two night trip I needed it for and had to buy the materials.
It works great! No signs of damage to it or the truck (Chevy).Chumley1.jpgChumley2.jpg
The pics should be self explanatory, but if you have any questions I would be pleased to answer them.

I take that is pvc and wood. What did you fill the pvc with in the space between the wood and pipe.

Yes. Two pieces of Oak from Home Depot cut to length and screwed together.
The dimensions of the wood in this case (Chevy) left very little space in the 3" dia. section of pvc but I filled it and the 4"-3" reducer with low expanding foam from a can anyway. I then cut a piece of an old nylon cutting mat for the very bottom.

Good idea, but use it with caution. There are folks out there who have had 4x4 posts fail on them, there can be quite a bit of load put on these if your hangle isn't just right. I do applaud your ingenuity tho'.
    Good luck,

    Ingenious design! Kudos!!

I can see something like that made with metal tubing instead of wood becoming very popular.

Let us know how it works for you.

Thanks Red! Will do! This thing is built like a tank - I am more worried about the hammock and the truck than I am about it, but thanks for the heads up!

Thanks Squid! Will do! 2 nights on it so far with ZERO distortion of the foam, no cracks, etc.

I think Redoleary is suggesting the wooden 4x4 post failing, not the metal in the truck.
