    Removing sag in asym tarp

So I set up my 8x10 tarp over my hammock asym and noticed a big sag along the ridge line. It was on a CRL with Prussiks. Any idea on how to get rid of this?

You'll get some sag regardless because of the stretch of the material (assuming this isn't a poly tarp or Cuben fibre).

Having the CRL under the tarp might help, and making sure you're stakes are going out at the right angle should help too I would think.

Ok thanks for your help (in this thread and my other) I've found using the plastic tarp grip clips to clip the tarp to the CRL has helped but I will try setting up the ridge line under the tarp.

If it's a flat tarp (not cat cut) then you're kind of stuck with a bit of sag. If you have a pretty substantial CRL and you put the tarp over it, that will help. Just cinching everything down a bit tighter will help too but may not remove all the sag. I had a similar tarp years ago before hammocking and tried to recycle it. Luckily it was a good quality item so I was able to resell it to another hiker and get a more purpose-built hammock tarp.

Basically the tarp stretch more along the bias of the material, than along the edge where the hem is, so it sags. There are two ways to offset this: 1) create catenary cuts that will help put tension in the "excess" material. 2) cut and sew a reinforce ridge line (flat felled or bound).
