    Question Weight rating for straps

Hey everyone, been reading threads for a while now but just got around to joining in. I'm looking to make some webbing suspensions for my hammocks and some friends want to upgrade as well. I've got 1" cinch buckles put together for each side of the hammock but am not sure what weight rating on straps i should get. I don't want it to stretch much so is a higher weight rating worth it or would it cause problems with the buckles? Looking to get a bulk roll of about 300 feet so i have some leftover for other projects.

What does everyone use for their hammocks? I'm open to any suggestions that more experienced users have. I've found some 1500# http://www.sailrite.com/Webbing-Poly...00#description as well as some 4500# http://www.uscargocontrol.com/Webbin...yester-Webbing

I am a pretty heavy guy and use 3,000 lb webbing, my wife uses the same with her cinch buckles and they work ok with that wieght,, i think they hold up longer than 1,500 lb straps and the 4,000 lb ers are way overkill and most likely too thick to work right with the cinch buckles.

Usually 1500 lbs will be fine. Generally speaking you will want the rating of the webbng to be 5-10 times your weight. This helps ensure the webbing wont fail from unforseen stresses, or from minor wear.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into getting some mid weight webbing. Good advice Boston, about the 5-10 times your weight rule.
